Pre Fab (Prefabricated and/or factory assembled) guard booths are small buildings, usually made of metal that can be purchased easily and ship to location ready to install and use. There are many kinds of guard booths (security booths) and lots of styles and materials to consider when making a purchase decision. In this blog, we’ll focus on the two longest lasting types of guard booths: pre-finished aluminum guard booths and welded steel guard booths. Each type of guard booth has their strengths, depending on the methods used to design and construct them and the attention to quality in the manufacturing process.
There are many benefits to using an engineered system featuring prefinished aluminum construction. For starters, the better appearance of finished aluminum versus raw or mill finish aluminum. This is the system that Mardan Fabrication uses to produce their factory assembled aluminum booths, shelters and buildings. The base material in aluminum naturally generates a protective oxide coating, which means no additional painting by the customer is required. The use of aluminum construction is quite beneficial in coastal regions as the prefinished aluminum material does not rust or deteriorate with constant exposure to the sea air and high salt conditions. Furthermore, the aluminum structure retains its structural integrity even at low temperatures meaning that it’s a good choice for colder climates, too. For the owner, it is a plus that pre-finished aluminum booths such as those built by Mardan Fabrication are easy to clean & maintain. Last, because of the relatively low weight of aluminum construction, the prefabricated security/guard booths are easily moveable by forklift which makes it convenient to move them when your needs change. Security personnel also enjoy the quality and comfort the prefabricated aluminum booth provides with minimal upkeep.
Port Everglades Cruise Terminal 2 located in Ft Lauderdale, Florida needed an ADA compliant aluminum security/guard booth with restroom. This 6′-6″ x 16′-0″ booth has HVAC in both the office and restroom portion. The restroom portion of the aluminum booth is fully functional and ADA compliant. The restroom fixtures are supplied as part of the booth and installed by the contractor onsite. The office portion of the guard booth has sliding windows and doors, a plastic laminate counter for computers and other equipment, and a wall mounted HVAC unit to keep the security guard comfortable while working in such warm and humid environments. Port Everglades requires booths that wouldn’t rust or deteriorate since the booths are located so close to the ocean and they need to maintain a quality appearance to the hundreds of thousands of visitors going through their gates. This particular booth is located approximately 500 yards from the ocean. That is why the prefabricated aluminum guard booth was the perfect solution for them.
